"RYA Start Yachting" is an introductory course for anyone who wants to start sailing.It's a 2 day course and an ideal option if you want to experience cruising for the first time. You will learn your way around the yacht, start crewing, handling under sail and safety afloat. A great option to go afloat and cruise safely with the help of an experienced instructor.
After obtaining your "Start Yachting Certificate" you may complete the following level "Competent Crew" by adding 3 extra training days or 2 weekends.

Prerequisites
Since this is a beginners course there are no prerequisites.
There is no minimum age to complete this course but all underaged need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

It offers modern infrastructure with restaurants, shops, showers, parking and boatyard all in a stunning location between Lisbon and Cascais.Around the marina, you will find several high quality beaches, and ocean swimming-pool and a cycle path by the water.
Its strategic location at the mouth of the river Tagus allows you to experience the Atlantic or otherwise look for the more protected and tidal waters of the river.
It's proximity to Cascais and Lisbon (about 6nm each) as well as the quick exit towards the south for destinations like Sesimbra are also a solid advantage.

Important Notes
All prices include fuel, marina costs and acomodation onboard when applicable. Includes the usage of all the safety gear, bed clothing, and food when applicable (breakfasts, lunches and 3 dinners on board). The boat will be supplied on your arrival. Includes a free book "RYA Sail Cruising and Yachtmaster Sheme" with your first RYA course with us. If you wish to make use of the Helly Hansen wet weather gear you have to book in advance at a cost o 19,50 euros per 5 days or 6 euros per day. West Coast holds all the required insurances for this type of activity. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend that you hold or buy your own travel insurance adequate to your specific needs. For example, in insurance that covers cancelation costs, theft, disease and that does not exclude recrational sailing is highly advised. It is not included in the price: meals ashore, books you may need, transfer to and from the airport or the city centre (but we can help with booking a taxi or organising a transfer for your group).warranty

In what training is concerned we cannot guarantee that you will always pass and get your certificate. But we can assure you that we will do our best so that you can reach your objectives.
Therefore we are the only traiing centre to offer you a "Learning Agreement" and second chance, assuring that you can repeat your course or activity (or parts of it) at no additional cost.
