Become a skilled yacht skipper in familiar waters by day and enjoy a little holiday at the same time.
Course for aspiring skippers who already have some yachting experience, know the basics of navigation and have sailing ability.
During the course you will be asked to skipper the yacht on short passages. The instructor will be on hand to give advice and encouragement and to ensure that your destination is reached safely.
The essential element is that you experience being in charge and take the right decisions so you reach your destination safely.

Prerequisites
5 days cruising, 100 nautical miles logged, 4 hours of night cruising.
You must know some theoretical knowledge about navigation. It is strongly recommended that you complete the "Day Skipper Shorebased" before you go into your practical Day Skipper. You will certainly learn and enjoy more of your practical experience on board.
Minimum age to complete this course is 16. All underaged can participate but must be accompanied by an parent or guardian at all times.

It offers modern infrastructure with restaurants, shops, showers, parking and boatyard all in a stunning location between Lisbon and Cascais.Around the marina, you will find several high quality beaches, and ocean swimming-pool and a cycle path by the water.
Its strategic location at the mouth of the river Tagus allows you to experience the Atlantic or otherwise look for the more protected and tidal waters of the river.
It's proximity to Cascais and Lisbon (about 6nm each) as well as the quick exit towards the south for destinations like Sesimbra are also a solid advantage.

Important Notes
All prices include fuel, marina costs and acomodation onboard when applicable. Includes the usage of all the safety gear, bed clothing, and food when applicable (breakfasts, lunches and 3 dinners on board). The boat will be supplied on your arrival. The premium option includes a free "RYA Sail Cruising and Yachtmaster Sheme" with your first RYA course with us. If you wish to make use of the Helly Hansen wet weather gear you have to book in advance at a cost o 19,50 euros per 5 days or 6 euros per day. West Coast holds all the required insurances for this type of activity. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend that you hold or buy your own travel insurance adequate to your specific needs. For example, in insurance that covers cancelation costs, theft, disease and that does not exclude recrational sailing is highly advised. It is not included in the price: meals ashore, books you may need, transfer to and from the airport or the city centre (but we can help with booking a taxi or organising a transfer for your group).
