This course offers a one day taster and introduction to the sport of powerboating.Your Instructor will start by showing you the basics of boat handling and ensure that you spend several hours on the wheel as well as crewing for the other students. For those who are into speed there will be an opportunity for some high speed handling in the afternoon with some “S” and “U” turns.
Students will receive the RYA Powerboat Level 1 Certificate, but for those who want to take up powerboating or require a license for insurance purposes, we strongly recommend the full two day combined RYA Level 1 & 2 Powerboat Course instead.

There are no prerequistes to follow this course, but a minimum age of 8 applies. Candidates with age below 16 will be issued an endorsed certificate.
All youngsters bellow the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or tutor.
Oeiras Yachting Harbor offers access to an outstanding water plan. It offers modern infrastructure with restaurants, shops, showers, parking and boatyard all in a stunning location between Lisbon and Cascais.
Its strategic location at the mouth of the river Tagus allows you to experience the Atlantic or otherwise look for the more protected and tidal waters of the river.
It's proximity to Cascais and Lisbon (about 6nm each) as well as the quick exit towards the south for destinations like Sesimbra are also a solid advantage
All prices include fuel and marina costs. Includes usage of all the safety gear. OWet weather gear, like Helly Hansen Jackets and high trousers has to be booked in advance and has a cost of 12 euros per 2 days. Includes the offer of 2 books: "RYA Powerboat Scheme" and "RYA Start Powerboating".
West Coast has alll the insurnces required for this type of activity. Nevertheless, we highly recomend that you buy your own insurance adequate to your specific needs. For example, covering cancelation costs, theft, unexpected disease, and that does not explicitly exclude powerboatin.
It is not included in the price: Any meal ashore, accomodation transfer between the marina and the aiport ( but we can help with information and booking a taxi or trasnfer).
