The Local Skipper License allows you to cruise with shore always on sight, up to 10 nautical miles from a safe harbor and up to 5 nautical miles from shore, regardless of the power and dimension of the boat.
This course can be done directly without taking the Basic Skipper (Carta de Marinheiro), and it’s the option that we advise for those who are beginning their nautical path.

Duration
Total of 40 hours in 5 weeks (30 theoretical classes and 10 practical classes).
Class based classes are taught in afterwork time from 07h30pm to 10h30pm and practical classes during the weekends.
The exam takes place on a Saturday or Sunday from 09h00am, with the theoretical component in the morning and practical in the afternoon.

Location
Oeiras Yachting Harbor offers access to an outstanding water plan. It offers modern infrastructure with restaurants, shops, showers, parking and boatyard all in a stunning location between Lisbon and Cascais.
Around the marina, you will find several high quality beaches, and ocean swimming-pool and a cycle path by the water. Its strategic location at the mouth of the river Tagus allows you to experience the Atlantic or otherwise look for the more protected and tidal waters of the river.
Classes take place from the Harbor of Oeiras, and in boats appropriately accredited for this purposes.

Documentation
The documents listed below are required by the issuing authority (DGRM) to attend the "Patrão Local" examination and be issued a certificate on approval:
Application form;
1 Photocopy of your identity card or passport (scanned);
1 Passport Photo (scanned);
If you are not a portuguese national you must produce a residence permit;
A declaration confirming that you know how to swim;
Photocopy of your "Marinheiro" certificate (in case you already have it);
A medical certificate stating you are able to practise nautical sports;
For the inicial enrolment it’s only necessary to fill in our application form and drop a copy of the identity card and a passport photo. If you already have the "Marinheiro" certificate you must leave us a copy and it will be no longer necessary to show a certificate confirming that you know how to swim.
The remaining documents must be delivered up to a week before the day of the exam.
